We want to spend Christmas in New York, yet we have family in NJ that we will see beforehand. These are our travel plans which we need to figure out a train situation for: Newark to Philly - is there a train that goes from Newark airport to Philly airport or Center City? Or is there a train that goes from Newark to other places in NJ? Philly to NYC - what is the train that goes from Philly to NYC Penn Station or Grand Central? NYC to Newark - do any trains go from NYC to Newark? Thanks for your help.

Several Amtrak trains each day connect Philadelphia with Newark and New York. They stop at 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, Newark Penn Station in Newark,Newark Airport, and Penn Station New York in New York. Also there are several New Jersey Transit trains that connect Penn Station New York with Newark Penn Station and Newark Airport. Also the New Jersey Transit Northeast Corridor Line connects Newark and New York with Trenton where you can connect to a SEPTA train to Philadelphia.

Yes, you can take Amtrak from Newark Airport to 30th Street in Center City. A cheaper way is to take the NJT Northeast Corridor Line to Trenton, and then take the SEPTA Trenton Line to Center City. From there, you can take the Airport Line to the Philadelphia Airport. The fare for Amtrak would be around $60. The fare for taking NJ Transit and SEPTA would be $17 for the Northeast Corridor Line (it includes the AirTrain access fee), and $9.50 for the SEPTA trains. To get back to NYC, you can do the reverse (stay on the NJT train until you reach NY Penn Station), or you can take Amtrak. The NJT fare is $15.50. To get back to Newark Airport, you can take the NJT Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line from NY Penn Station to Newark Airport. The fare is $15, and it includes the AirTrain access fee. I hope this information was very helpful.

Of course you can. What else would you use? We don't expect that visitors from other countries get a US drivers' license to travel inside the U.S. If it is a valid passport, it is perfect and all you need. Your school ID is pretty much worthless- don't bother with that.
2 :
As long as you are an international student and have a student visa on your passport, you can move in States with your passport and your student ID. The main thing is, you have to have something that shows you are in US as an international student with the student visa and pictured student ID. In case if they need to know which school are you in. That is all you need.

If your passport got you in to the country, it will get you around the states.. FL is awesome!!
4 :
Yes, you can use your passport to travel within the United States as long as you have your I-94 in case you need to demonstrate to Homeland Security that you are legally in the United States.
5 :
You do not need identification to travel between states. If you intend to drive a car, you will need an international driver's license or a valid driver's license from your country. If you fly, you can use your passport as identification. If you require proof of I.D. to check in to a hotel, rent a car, etc., your passport is appropriate to verify your identity for credit card purchases etc. If you do not have a driver's license of any kind, you cannot drive legally. You said that you reside in the U.S. Get a driver's license. It doesn't cost $1,000 like it does in some other countries.

as long as you are in the us legally, your passport and visa should be sufficient identification for travel.

There are many buses that go from the Poconos into New York City where you could catch a bus back to Newark. Martz Trailways operates most of them. It's about an hour and a half from Stroudsburg to NYC depending on traffic.

When you arrive in Newark and get your bags, look for signs for the AirTrain. This is a free monorail that takes you to the Airport Train Station. This goes between terminals and takes just a few minutes. At that station, purchase a ticket for New York Penn Station. It will be $15.00. Take NJTransit train to Manhattan. This train ride will take about a half hour. The only tricky part is that Newark Penn Station is the next stop after the airport. Many people get confused by this and get off thinking they are in Manhattan. New York Penn Station is the end of the line.

NJ Transit

My friend, take NJ Transit from Newark-Liberty Airport to New York Penn Station. The fare is $15, which includes a $5.50 fare to ride the Airtrain from the train station to the airport. Good luck

See the link below for transportation options from Laguardia to Newark. Looks like you should be able to make that connection without difficulty, but it is rush hour AND remember that you'll need to get through security at Newark...and they usually want you there 2 hours ahead for an international flight. You might speak to the transporters at the site below but also to your international airline.

Three hours is okay, however, if your flying out of Newark during the week, you going to get stuck in traffic while going through Manhattan. The best way to get from LGA to EWR in 3 hours will be by taking public transit. Step 1: purchase a $4.50 pay per ride (regular) MetroCard or a 7-day unlimited ride MetroCard for $29 from any Hudson News stand at the airport or from the MetroCard Vending Machines located within the airport terminals, and take the Q33 bus from the Main Terminal to the 74th Street/Roosevelt Avenue subway station. If you're coming from the Marine Air Terminal, please take the Q47 bus to the 74th Street/Roosevelt Avenue subway station. Please note: The MetroCard Vending Machines at LGA only accepts credit and debit cards. If you preferred not to use your credit or debit card at the airport, there is a change machine right next to the MetroCard Vending Machines that will change dollars bills to coins for the bus. Step 2: at the 74th Street/Roosevelt Avenue subway station, transfer to the "E" train (Blue Line on the map). Take the Manhattan-bound (westbound) train from Roosevelt Avenue to 34th Street-Penn Station. Step 3: once at Penn Station, follow the directional signs to the NJ Transit Concourse and take the Northeast Corridor Line from Penn Station to Newark-Liberty International Airport, where a connection can be made to the Newark Airtrain monorail, which will take the from the NJ Transit train station to the terminals. The one way fare on NJ Transit, which include an access fee to the Newark Airtrain monorail will cost you $15. I hope this infomration is very helpful. ¡Buena suerte! (Good luck in Spanish)
