Here's how to get from Newark-Liberty Airport to Times Square by public transit, which is cheaper than a taxi. Step 1: take the Airtrain from the terminal to the Newark-Liberty International Airport train station. Step 2: at the Newark-Liberty International Airport train station, purchase a one way NJ Transit ticket from EWR to Penn Station New York and take any New York City-bound (eastbound) train from there to New York Penn Station. A one way ticket on NJ Transit from EWR to New York Penn Station will cost you $15. Step 3: at Penn Station, follow the direction sign to the New York City Subway. Take the uptown (northbound) #1, 2 or 3 subway lines (Red Line on the subway map) from Penn Station to Times Square. The fare on the subway is $2.25 one way. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck Native New Yorker

The best way would be to take the AirTrain to the Newark Airport station for the New Jersey Transit Northeast Corridor Line/North Jersey Coast Line to Penn Station, New York. From there, take the subway (the 1, 2, or 3 trains) 1 stop to Penn Station. The cost would be $15.00 for the NJ Transit train ticket (includes the price of the AirTrain ticket) and $2.25 for the subway, for a total of $17.25. Another way would be to take the New Jersey Transit #62 bus to Newark Penn Station. From there, get on the New Jersey Transit Transit Northeast Corridor Line/North Jersey Coast Line to Penn Station, New York. From there, take the subway (the 1, 2, or 3 trains) 1 stop to Penn Station. The cost would be $1.50 for the #62 bus, $5.00 for the NJ Transit train ticket, and $2.25 for the subway, for a total of $8.75. A cheaper way would be to take the New Jersey Transit #62 bus to Newark Penn Station. From there, take the PATH to the World Trade Center, walk to the Cortlandt Street station (it is only open northbound, in the direction you need to go), and take the R train to Times Square. The cost would be $1.50 for the #62 bus, $1.75 for the PATH, and $2.25 for the subway for a total of $5.50. These were listed, not just in the order of costs, but also in the order of the amount of time each trip takes. If you are willing to pay more money, you will save time. However, if you don't mind taking longer, you can save on the fares. Hope this helps.

59 West 46th St is located near eastside of 6th Av. Cheaper way require transfer: Step 1: Look for GoBus#28 Stations outside airport. If you cannot find it ask airport officials. Step 2: Make Sure to take GoBus#28 that says Bloomfield Station via Broad St Station, not Newark Airport-North Area. Step 3: When you board GoBus#28 via Broad St Station, paid $2.20 to get a free transfer. Step 4: Take this to Broad St station. Step 5: Cross over to Broad St station, where you see Newark City Subway. Step 6: Take Newark City Subway straight to Newark Penn Station. Transfers count as validaded ticket, so you do not need to stamp. Step 7: Then get on PATH which is $1.75 one way. Step 8: Take PATH to Journal Sq for 33rd St train across the platform. Step 9: Take uptown (B)(D)(F)(V) to 47th-50th Sts/Rockfeller Center and use rear exit at 47th St. Please note starting, Sunday, June 27th, weekday (V) service is replaced by (M) as part of MTA Service Cut. NYC Subway and bus fares are $2.25, and if you're planning to stay for while, buy Unlimited MetroCard at subway station, not at PATH. Faster way: Step 1: At passenger terminals, look for orange New Jersey Transit Ticket Vending Machine and purchase one way $15 ticket to New York. $5.50 Airtrain fee is included in ticket. Step 2: Take Airtrain Newark to Newark Liberty International Airport. Step 3: Then switch directly to New Jersey Transit's inboud Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line into New York Penn Station. Step 4: Then paid $2.25 one for subway or purchase Unlimited MetroCard. Step 5: Follow sign to (1)(2)(3), where you could take uptown (1)(2)(3) from 34th St-Penn Station to Times Sq-42nd St. If available, exit at 44th St/Broadway, by 42nd St shuttle Track #4, which will take you 2 blocks south from your hotel.
